This is a three-hour workshop for high school students who are considering higher education in the arts, but don’t know where to begin. We will have information about the application process, selecting the best schools for you, financial aid, curriculum at different schools, housing, and more. ART 101 is a one-day workshop presented each fall for high school students interested in learning about the college application process. The workshop focuses on addressing students' and parents' concerns about higher education in the arts. Topics include choosing a school that matches the student's interests and goals, obtaining scholarships and financial aid, the admissions process, what the first year in college is like, and career opportunities for people educated in the arts. Presenters include local artists who have recently completed their art training at a variety of institutions of higher education, faculty and advisors from local universities' art departments, and current undergraduate students.
